Help send disadvantaged kids to see Jets
Buy a Chants for Charity T-Shirt to help Boys and Girls Clubs of Winnipeg fundraiser
Your chants can help jet an underprivileged child to a hockey game.
Chants for Charity is a fundraising initiative for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Winnipeg in support of the organization’s SportsConnection program. The program is a youth development initiative that increases opportunities for children and youth, especially those from economically-disadvantaged circumstances, organizers say.
You can help the cause by buying a Jets fan chant T-shirt, which will help send kids to Winnipeg Jets games. T-shirts are available online at chantsforcharity.com or at the following retail partners for $20 (cash purchase only): Joe Daley’s Sports & Framing (513 St. Mary’s Rd.); Royal Sports (750 Pembina Hwy. and 650 Raleigh St.); Luxalune Gastropub (734 Osborne St.); and Above All Screening & Embroidery (110 King Edward St. E). T-shirts are available for both and women.
Individuals are also invited to donate Jets tickets and get a tax receipt. To donate tickets, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Chants for Charity’s founder Kelly Nichols previously told Canstar Community News that though the SportsConnection program doesn’t provide a chance for children to go to Jets games, organizers at the Boys and Girls Clubs of Winnipeg are looking into it.
"The Boys and Girls Clubs are still exploring possible avenues to use some of the funding to purchase Winnipeg Jets tickets," Nichols told The Sou’wester in October.
"But a number of people have stepped forward and donated their tickets . . . and so far we’ve sent eight kids to Winnipeg Jets pre-season games."
