Local library to hold musical programs

  • Print

There will be plenty of musical and cultural entertainment at Louis Riel Library in the coming weeks.

On Thurs., March 27, between 6:30 and 7:15 p.m., community members are invited to come and sing along with 2014 Juno Award nominee and 2012 winner Charlie Hope.

Organizers say Hope will sing some well-known songs that will provide toe-tapping fun for parents and their kids. The session is aimed at families with children up to the age of six.

The library will also once again host Little Métis Sing With Me, in association with the Louis Riel Institute and the Manitoba Metis Federation. The eight-week program is aimed at caregivers and children, and will explore Métis culture, history and language. Participants will learn literacy skills to benefit the whole family with fun activities for adults and kids.

The sessions will take place on Tuesdays from April 8 to May 27 between 10:30 a.m. and noon. Book giveaways, healthy snacks and bus tickets will be provided. The program is supported by The Winnipeg Foundation’s Literacy for Life fund.

The library is located at 1168 Dakota St. To register for either event, call 204-986-4576.
