NGCC looking for a few good volunteers

Key positions vacant at local community centre

Organizers at Norberry-Glenlee Community Centre are looking for a few good men or women to fill some key volunteer positions to help the centre move forward.

Five volunteer positions are currently up for grabs at the St. Vital-based centre, including two board positions and three non-board positions, according to organizers.

The hall rentals director is a board position where the candidate is responsible for all rentals at the centre. The director will oversee current financial reports (deposits and invoices), recruit responsible bartenders in line with the centre’s rules and provide bartenders with keys, as well as upkeep bar equipment and supplies.

The equipment director is a board position that involves overseeing the various sport equipment convenors. The role includes organizing and recording all equipment and keeping an updated inventory, reporting to the board regarding required or donated equipment and submitting a projected budget, as well as recruiting donations of equipment and uniforms.

The youth soccer equipment director is responsible for the distribution and collection of equipment for all of the centre’s youth soccer teams. This is a non-board position.

The mini soccer convenor, another non-board position, is responsible for running the centre’s mini soccer program for kids aged three to eight. Organizers say the role could potentially be shared between two people.

The softball/baseball equipment director is responsible for the distribution and collection of equipment for all of the centre’s softball and baseball teams. This is a non-board position.

Organizers note that volunteering for one of these positions fulfils your volunteer commitment for the year, secures you a booster card and also gives parents the chance to show their children the importance of making a difference in the community.
