A recent fundraiser to help an Island Lakes boy with autism get a certified service dog from National Service Dogs was hailed a success. The Bud, Spud and Steak event for Jonah Kolisniak, 9, was held on April 20 at Area Nightclub at Canad Inns Express Fort Garry. More than 325 dinner tickets and more than 100 supporter tickets were sold for the event, which included a 50/50 draw and raffle. At press time, around $11,000 had been raised. Guests included NSD dog Magnum and Ace Burpee, who was MC on the night. Pictured, from left: Jonah’s sister, Bethany, Burpee, Jonah’s mom, Rose, and Jonah’s dad, Kevin.
