There will soon be a carnival atmosphere at Southdale Community Centre.

The centre, located at 254 Lakewood Blvd., will hold its Spring Carnival from Fri., May 10 to Sun., May 12.

Attractions will include select shows by Midway Carnival (Friday from 6 to 11 p.m., Saturday between noon and 11 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m.) and a carnival-themed sock hop on Friday from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Admission to the sock hop is $3 or $2 with a donation to charity, organizers say.

There will also be a candy scramble for kids on Saturday, in the hall, at 2 p.m. and a grocery scramble for ladies in the same location an hour later.

The Saturday night sky will be illuminated by fireworks at 10 p.m., while visitors can enjoy a police horse on Sunday at noon and a petting farm from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. the same day.
