To help us all become more involved in our community, I would like to share with you some wonderful events coming up right here in Riel.
A Lag B’Omer celebration is happening at the Norberry-Glenlee Community Centre on April 28 from 11:00 to 3:00. This fun-filled family event is celebrated by the Jewish community through bonfires, archery and feasting! All are welcome.

Dakota Collegiate will be celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2013 and a group of student and teacher alumni, including myself, as well as current staff, are planning a humdinger of a weekend. Show some of the good old Lancer spirit by coming by Dakota Collegiate on May 21 at 7:00 p.m. and get active.
I also want to thank all of the good folks who have so generously contributed to my Share the Magic book program which has provided 110,000 books to children and adults. The week before the 2012 winter vacation, Share the Magic distributed 35,000 books into the inner city of Winnipeg by working in partnership with the Winnipeg School Division and First Book Canada. Gray Academy, École Crane and Island Lakes Community School lead Share the Magic drives. Thank you all for sharing the magic of reading!
Promoting and participating in community-driven events and programs is the best part of my job. It reflects the values our government brings to the province of Manitoba.
