Kelli Miller, born and raised in St. Vital, has been featured in publications across the globe for her jewelery.
It all started when Miller was in Toronto studying fashion, design and marketing at Ryerson University. When walking down the streets of the big city people would stop her to ask her about her jewelery. Little did they know they were talking to the designer herself. She taught herself how to make bracelets and necklaces by taking apart jewelery and putting it back together with her own touch and hardware finds.
"I’ve always been creative and visual," she said.
Miller has been making her own jewelery for about seven years. It started off as a hobby, but when friends and strangers started asking her to make pieces for them Sugar Blossom Design was launched.
The neck and arm candy is fun, bright, and colourful, just like Miller. She said the bracelets and necklaces can be casual or dressy.
"One of my friends describes the pieces as happy. You can mix and match the pieces and they match almost everything because of the colours," Miller said.
Her latest pieces are colourful bracelets that mix chain and braided fabric. They’re made with hardware and materials from around the world. Miller gets her inspiration from a variety of places including markets, flowers, photos and her own job in the fashion industry. She’s a model booker and creative director at Swish Model Management.
Miller has seen both girls and women wearing her stuff.
"I’ve made bracelets for eight year olds and they love them and I’ve seen women in their 60s wearing it," she said.
Miller also designs custom pieces of jewelery. For more information on Sugar Blossom Design visit sugarblossomdesign.com or email email@example.com.
