A magazine started by Rachelle Taylor, who was born and raised in St.V ital, is expanding online.

Prairie Yogi Magazine began its life as Taylor’s thesis project in the Creative Communications program at Red River College. And now it’s just launched its website at prairieyogimagazine.com.

Taylor is the founder and director of business development for Prairie Yogi — a yoga, health and lifestyle magazine — while Monique Pantel, who is still in her final year of CreComm, is the creative director.

"Going online allows us to expand our reach," Taylor said. "We get to reach more people across the Prairies and rural areas that we wouldn’t have been to otherwise. Our magazine is now more accessible and we are able to update content more regularly for readers."

"I couldn’t think of a better person to be a part of the team," Taylor said of Pantel. "She’s brought beauty and life to the magazine."

Pantel said the magazine has crept into nearly every aspect of her life, "in a good way.

"It’s been a lot of hard work, creating, designing, writing. Managing accounts online. Getting the website ready to launch and generating buzz," Pantel said.

Pantel said hands down the best part about the project is the people she gets to meet, interview, and photograph.

"Everyone has such a profound story," she said.

Pantel and Taylor are able to assess the magazine’s reach through the use of online analytics.

"We’ve got some dedicated Prairie Yogis in Moose Jaw, Regina and Saskatoon. I love seeing that kind of love across the Prairies," Pantel said.

The magazine is always looking for contributors. Details on how to submit work can be found on the website. Prairie Yogi Magazine is also always running online contests.

Registration is open for the 2013 5/6 & 7/8 House League tournament to be held in March at Jonathon Toews Community Centre.

The 24 5/6 year old teams will play March 1-4 and the 24 7/8 teams will play March 5-13. Each team is  guaranteed three games, snacks and drinks will be available, as well as player-of-the-game awards. There will also be raffle prizes and a 50/50 draw.
