The Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce South Chapter was pleased to welcome best-selling author and motivational speaker Joseph Ranseth at its last meeting on Nov. 18.
Ranseth, the founder of Green Leaf Social Media and Vine Multimedia, was both engaging and challenging, and challenged attendees to consider how they communicate with their customers and the public while also considering a bigger picture.
Joseph represents a new breed of entrepreneurs who are driven by a purpose greater than profit alone. His digital marketing agency, Vine Multimedia, operates on a social enterprise business model that allocates a significant amount of time to helping non-profit agencies. It also returns company profit back to the community, either directly or through social awareness campaigns. He passionately shares the principles of purpose-driven marketing and transformational leadership in the digital age.
Joseph fielded many questions from curious business owners in the crowd, many of whom may not use social media strategies in their marketing.
His best advice on developing a social media strategy was to get to know who your customers are and what they’re looking for so you can adapt that strategy to them. Needless to say, the level of intrigue from the crowd was very high.
Social media is certainly top of mind at the Winnipeg Chamber this holiday season. Nearly 60 local businesses have joined forces to encourage consumers to get to know their local neighbourhood shops and to share the experience online using the hashtag #UnwrapWPG.
The campaign also includes a local shopping spree — all you need to do to enter is use the hashtag.
Even better, campaign sponsor Assiniboine Credit Union will make a donation of 50 cents to Local Investment Toward Employment each time the hashtag is used — up to a total of $1,000.
More details on the campaign (including all of the participating retailers’ stories) can be found at winnipeg-chamber.com
The Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce’s chapters meet once per month with the goal of helping members of the business community grow their networks, generate or give leads, hear from dynamic speakers and tackle local issues affecting their businesses.
Chapter meetings are not exclusive to Chamber members.
