Two community groups have joined forces to tempt West End residents with some great deals.
The Daniel McIntyre/St. Matthews Community (DMSMC) Association has teamed up with the John Howard Society (JHS) of Manitoba for a combination garage sale and book and bake sale at the DMSMC Resource Centre, 823 Ellice Ave. (at Arlington Street) on Saturday, May 25 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The annual Hidden Treasures Annual Rummage Sale is like a "flea market," said association spokesperson Denise MacDonald.
"We want neighbours to have a chance to come out and meet each other and make a little bit of money," MacDonald said.
The association’s garage sale will be behind the resource centre, while the JHS Book and Bake Sale will be inside.
Twenty tables for the garage sale vendors are free to residents of the community, but they were all snapped up as of last week, MacDonald said.
Tables might become available though, she added, and people can have their name put on a waiting list by emailing email@example.com or calling 204-774-7005.
MacDonald said the association hopes people will come out not only to look for bargains but also to learn about the resource centre.
"We’ll have material out, pamphlets on our programs, and our latest newsletters," she said.
