Bikefest returning for fifth spin

  • Print

Bike enthusiasts are invited to celebrate bikes on June 15.

Mountain Equipment Co-op (MEC) is hosting its fifth-annual BikeFest at The Forks Market Plaza that day from noon to 5 p.m.

In addition to free opportunities for attendees to tune-up and repair their bicycles (with the help of professional bike mechanics), they will also be able to receive nutrition and health information through a clinic from the Centre for Natural Medicine. The clinic is a new addition to this year’s event.

Children will be able to decorate their bicycles and participate in the bicycle obstacle course run by the MEC’s Kids of Mud program.

There will also be entertainment in the form of Peg City Trials extreme riders completing obstacle courses, as well as music from 10 local music acts including Sons of York, Those Guys, Sebastian Owl, and Animal Teeth.

For more information and a complete list of events, visit www.mec.ca/bikefest

MEC was incorporated in Canada in 1971 and opened its Winnipeg store at 303 Portage Ave. in 2002. Lifetime membership in the co-op costs $5.
