Artists are taking Charleswood history and giving it a new life this June.
The Charleswood Art Group is presenting Celebrating Charleswood, a show and sale of art inspired by old photos, at Frame of Mind Gallery, 3528 Roblin Blvd., throughout the month of June.
"Telling artists what to do is like herding cats," said Bonnie Taylor, one of the show’s artists, of the art group request that participants use historic urban and natural scenes from Charleswood as inspiration for original art for the show.
Eighteen artists agreed to be herded, Taylor said, and each will be showing about two works of art.
There will also be a wide selection of original unframed art and greeting cards for sale.
A repository of hundreds of old photos compiled by the Charleswood Heritage Society was made available to the artists in doing their work.
Admission to the June 1 to 30 show is free. Hours are 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday to Friday, and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
All are welcome at a reception on Sunday, June 2 from 2 to 4 p.m. with coffee and desserts.
