It is an honour to serve our neighbourhood, and the opportunity to keep in contact with you through this column is something I hope becomes a means of sharing the many great things going on in and around Kirkfield Park.

I will also keep you posted on the work I do in the Legislature to help keep Kirkfield Park one of the best places to live in Manitoba.

It has been a busy spring and I have enjoyed being out at community events, including breakfasts hosted by the growing Men’s Shed group and participating in ‘I Love to Read’ month at our elementary schools.

I believe that my role includes sharing information that helps my neighbours, and on April 11th I hosted an Identity Theft Prevention Seminar at Westwood Community Church and was pleased to see a hundred people come out to hear presentations by Winnipeg Police Services and the Office of the Ombudsman.
With the overwhelming response, I will be hosting another seminar soon. If you are interested in participating, please contact my office so that we can get the time and date to you when it is booked.

Thank you again to everyone who took the time to join us and please invite your friends to join us next time!

Working with schools and students is one of the most rewarding and inspiring aspects of being your MLA, and my office has partnered with local art teachers to host our Second Student Art Exhibit from May 6th to 10th, where students will be displaying their art alongside local artist Charlie Johnston, with a reception on May 10th from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

I will be hosting the 9th Annual Creek Clean-Up on May 11th from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Woodhaven Community Club, with a barbecue for those who come out and help!
It is also the same day as the Annual Woodhaven Community Yard Sale, so make a day of it and come out and meet your neighbours, find some treasures and help beautify our neighbourhood!

To get more information about any of these events or to share your ideas and concerns, please contact my office at 3059 Portage Ave. and you can reach me at 204-832-2318 or kirkfieldpark1@yourmanitoba.ca
