Winnipeg’s Ciao! magazine is looking to fatten us all up as their eighth annual ChocolateFest returns for a decadent April-long celebration.
Thirty-three participating restaurants, bakeries and bars will be serving items made specifically for the festival which will feature, of course, chocolate as the signature ingredient.
"Each year chocophiles look forward to see how chefs and bakers are getting creative with the world’s favourite ingredient and ChocolateFest is a great way to indulge," publisher Laurie Hughes is quoted in a Ciao! press release.
Steve Kandilakis, owner of Steve’s Bistro on Portage Avenue, said he’s serving up a chocolate martini and chocolate bread pudding. It’s the third year Steve’s has been part of the month-long chocolate festival, and Kandilakis said it draws a crowd.
"Some of the people do come, from all over the city, just for that."
The release says festival sponsor Morden’s of Winnipeg will give free miniature chocolate bison, while they last, to chocolate lovers making a ChocolateFest purchase.
