Here’s to a great autumn after busy summer
Well, a very interesting summer is coming to an end.
With our summer holidays and vacations behind us, we must now turn our attention to the pressing matters of life, work, school or a combination of all three.
Although city council did not hold any meetings in August, a lot of work still went on as we prepared for the fall sitting of council. One area of concern for me over the summer has been the quality of water that some of you have had to deal with. My office received numerous calls and emails complaining about "brown water" issues in homes throughout St. Charles Ward.
For some, this was a one-time issue. For others this problem is bordering on habitual. I have asked city administration to continue to assist those affected through the flushing of adjacent lines. The administration has also assured me that they have been, and will continue to, work diligently to identify the source of the problem and rectify it. I would like to thank those for their patience and perseverance through this period and I look forward to the restoration of our high-quality, clear water.
I am also happy to report that the Sturgeon Bridge is almost finished. This new bridge, besides replacing a load-restricted and aged structure, has assisted in improving the Sturgeon Creek pathway through providing users with a safe way to cross Sturgeon Road. The project is on budget and the final touches on both spans of the bridge should be completed before the snow flies.
The battery recycling program continues to beat all expectations. Since being launched in July, we have collected over 500 pounds of batteries that could have ended up at Brady Landfill.
Please contact my office if you have any civic related issues and/or to arrange for battery pickup. We can be reached at 204-986-5920 or firstname.lastname@example.org
Here’s hoping for a great autumn season.
