Assiniboia Community Committee
The City of Winnipeg’s Assiniboia Community Committee met on July 4 and approved the following applications:
• $800 in the form of a per capita grant to the Charleswood Historical Society to assist with their annual pioneer dinner to be held on Oct. 15 at Breezy Bend Country Club in honour of longtime residents;
• $7,000 in the form of a community incentive grant to the Explore & Discover Early Learning Centre Inc., for Active Outdoor Play under the conditions that other funding sources are made known, final plans are approved by the City of Winnipeg and the applicant is entering a formal agreement with the City;
• $65,262 from the land dedication reserve fund to the Charleswood Broncos Football Club to assist with field and clubhouse upgrade, under the conditions that final plans be approved by the City;
• $9,114.20 from the land dedication reserve fund to the Charleswood Historical Society to assist with the Caron House landscaping project, under the condition that final plans are approved by the City of Winnipeg.
Misericordia eye care still available
While several community hospitals are phasing out emergency rooms, the Misericordia Eye Care Centre will remain open 24 hours a day to see those needing urgent ocular care.
"Eye assessment will remain on site at Misericordia Health Centre 24-7 providing eye patients with specialized care," WRHA vice-president, interpersonal practice and chief nursing officer Lori Lamont said in a news release.
"In line with our goals on improving patient care and reducing patient transfers, urgent eye patients will continue to be welcomed and treated at Misericordia Health Centre 24-7."
