Green thumbs in the Daniel McIntyre and St. Matthews neighbourhoods looking to dig into community gardening this year have a chance of scooping up a free plot.
The Daniel McIntyre/St. Matthews Community Association is accepting applications for the Lipton, Orioles, Jacob Penner and Central Mosque Community Gardens.
There are 90 plots between the four gardens, which are available to anyone who lives within the DMSMCA catchment area: bordered by Portage Avenue to the south, Notre Dame to the north, Victor Street to the east and Ingersoll Street to the west.
Each plot is free and priority is given to community members who don’t have a yard and who have previously volunteered their time in one of the gardens.
Those interested in a plot are asked to contact Kemlin Nembhard at 204-774-7005 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The DMSMCA is located at 823 Ellice Ave.
