The University of Winnipeg and CBC News are coming together to host an event from June 13 to 15 next year called Holding Power to Account: International Conference on Investigative Journalism, Democracy, and Human Rights.
Speakers include investigative journalist Carl Bernstein, The National’s Peter Mansbridge, the fifth estate’s Linden MacIntyre and Bob McKeown, CBC senior investigative correspondent Diana Swain, CBC correspondent Adrienne Arsenault, and Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project director Paul Radu.
The U of W and CBC News are accepting proposals from journalists and academics that explore issues in investigative journalism, democracy, and international human rights. The deadline for abstracts for peer review is Nov. 15, 2013. Those who submit abstracts will be contacted via email by Jan. 15, 2014 if their proposals have been accepted.
