WAA named one of Manitoba’s top employers

The Winnipeg Airports Authority keeps landing more awards.

Last week, the organization, responsible for the management and operation of Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport, was named among Manitoba’s top 25 employers for 2013.

The organization also received an award in 2010 and 2012 in the annual competition organized by the editors of Canada’s Top 100 Employers.

"We are proud to once again be named one of Manitoba’s top 25 employers," said WAA president and CEO Barry Rempel in a release.

The competition ranks organizations in eight categories, including the physical workplace and work atmosphere, employee communication, performance management, training development and community involvement.

"Our organization’s success can be directly related to focus on a vision to serve our stakeholders, embodying the corporate values of respect, integrity and service excellence," Rempel said.

The WAA was also recently recognized as one of Canada’s top 100 employers.

In September, WAA volunteers earned the organization a Service Excellence award at the Manitoba Tourism Awards for its Goldwing Ambassador program.

Goldwing Ambassadors assist passengers and other airport visitors, helping create a positive impression of the city and province, the authority said in a release.

A non-share capital corporation, the WAA receives no operating funding from any level of government.
