The Westwood Community Band is playing a show at the Golden West Centennial Lodge (811 School Rd.) on Feb. 27 at 7 p.m.
Unfortunately, the show is strictly for residents in the retirement home, so outsiders may not attend.
However, Westwood Community Band doesn’t just play at retirement homes. The band’s president, Michael Westwell, said they play all over Winnipeg.
"Not only do we play in the Westwood area — from time to time, we play beyond the Perimeter too," Westwell added.
Westwell said the band formed in 1980. Now, more than three decades later, there are 45 members ranging in age from 20 to 70-plus.
The band rehearses on Thursday evenings at John Taylor Collegiate (470 Hamilton Ave.).
"All are welcome to join," Westwell said.
