Hey there, time traveller!

I want to express my thanks to everyone who participated in the 2013 Senior Fair on Nov. 5.
Hundreds of seniors attended and were very enthusiastic about the extensive information and sample products that were available from the participating businesses and organizations. The information provided by the exhibitors brought awareness to the number of resources available to seniors in our community. The demonstrations and presentations were well received by everyone in attendance and I look forward to hosting this great community event again next year.
The holiday season is a very busy time in Assiniboia as schools, community clubs, seniors’ groups and a variety of organizations embrace the season with events that enhance our community. At this time of year, I host several coffee parties with seniors. It’s great to catch up and discuss ideas and topics that are important to the community.
I also look forward to attending the many holiday celebrations, special events and concerts at local daycares, schools and personal care homes. I always enjoy the unique winter concerts and listening to the enthusiastic performances.
To help celebrate the season, I will be visiting schools and daycares with oranges and candy canes!
During this festive season, we take particular care to ensure that all members of our community are able to celebrate. John Taylor Collegiate and Collège Sturgeon Heights will again host turkey dinners for seniors to help ensure that as many people as possible get to enjoy a holiday meal.
With the arrival of winter, I will once again be hosting the Assiniboia Annual Sleigh Ride! This is an outdoor event featuring sleigh rides and a lot of great fun! For more information on this event, please call my office directly at 204-888-7722.
I would like to also invite you to visit the Manitoba legislature during the Legislative Open House on Sat., Dec. 7 from 1 to 3 p.m. Come and enjoy refreshments and great entertainment. Please be sure to visit me in Room 234!
As always, I am happy to chat and hear about successes, challenges and concerns. Please call my office at the number above. I wish you all the best this holiday season and look forward to a great year in 2014.
