"Just arrived @YWGairport. Watching live TV on a tablet & traveling home in style in a brand new @LincolnMotorCo #2014MKT. #CustomerService"
That’s Twitter speak (in 140 characters) for what a passenger might share while riding in one of the high-tech, luxury vehicles now on offer from Hollywood Limousine Service at Winnipeg’s Richardson International Airport.
"We are excited to introduce our dedicated fleet to serve customers of Winnipeg Richardson International Airport," Ricky Brar, president of Hollywood Limousine said in a release announcing the new service on Aug. 14.
"As a partner in the travel experience, we are introducing innovative services for today’s connected traveller — in-car tablets enabled with free Wi-Fi allow customers to conduct business, book their next trip with us, check flights, airport security wait times and so much more."
The company’s black-on-black, four-passenger Lincoln MKTs are luxurious. The tablet computers come pre-loaded with a variety of applications, including live TV, while the Wi-Fi allows passengers to check email or update their social networks.
"Creating a positive first impression of our city and meeting or exceeding the needs of customers is our shared vision and I’m certain customers will be extremely pleased with some of the innovations this luxury sedan service will provide," Winnipeg Airport Authority president and CEO Barry Rempel said.
The flat rate for travel from the airport to various areas on the westside of the city varies between $32 – $37. The vehicles are available for trips inside the city and to surrounding communities outside the Perimeter Highway.
Brar is excited to be able to offer Wi-Fi in his vehicles, as many observers the trend will take hold in most automobiles in coming years.
"We are reinventing the mobile experience inside the vehicle — this is really the information superhighway," he said.
