The before and after school child care program at École Viscount Alexander is looking to fill some spaces.
The program operates out of École Viscount Alexander, but also caters to students from École Crane.
Supervisor Tracey McCluskey said several spaces have yet to be filled for this year’s program, which accepts up to 30 students.
The program, which is operated by Fort Garry Child Care, is for Grade 1 to 6 students who attend either École Crane or École Viscount Alexander. Before-school care is provided from 7 to 9 a.m. while after-school care is available from 4:30 to 6 p.m.
Children attending École Crane are taken to and from school by program staff.
Full daycare is also provided for children who are registered in the before and after school program on in-service days, during Christmas and spring breaks as well as during the summer.
Students who are registered in the before and after school program do not have to register separately for full daycare during these times. The cost is $18.30 per day.
While the program is offered at a French Immersion school, care providers speak English and all activities are conducted in English.
McCluskey said the program offers a variety of activities for students including gym time as well as sewing, reading and board game clubs.
"Whatever the kids want to do we try to accommodate it," McCluskey said.
"We try to give them a lot of freedom within a structured environment."
The program also offers off-site activities during in-service days and holidays.
"We put a lot of effort into our summer programs, we have a lot of fun," said McCluskey, who has been working with Fort Garry Child Care for more than 20 years.
Before and after school care fees are $8.30 per day.
