Wild for wicker?
Residents are encouraged to arrive early for the Fort Garry United Church annual garage sale April 20.
"Furniture seems to go first," said Susan Hope, administrator for Fort Garry United. "The wicker furniture, people scoop that up right away."
The church has been organizing the "giant" garage sale to raise funds for its standard operating costs for over 15 years. Hope said at least 30 volunteers come out.
Hope said the church’s congregation and neighbours in the community save their items year-round in order to donate them.
Hope estimates this year there will be more than 1,000 different items, from collectibles to artwork to furniture. In past years, customers have lined up an hour before the sale to find those hidden treasures.
The garage sale will be held at Fort Garry United Church, 800 Point Rd., from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
