Community centre renovations ahead thanks to city grant program

  • Print

Three local community centres are about to undergo facelifts.

Mayor Sam Katz announced late last month 17 Winnipeg community centres will receive funding to undertake repairs as part of the city’s new Community Centre Renovation Grant Program.

Wildwood Park, Waverley Heights and Tuxedo community centres are among the clubs which will receive funding through the program this year.

The program was approved by city council in February. It will provide up to $965,000 in annual funding to community centres. Applicants are eligible to receive 100% of project costs to a maximum of $50,000 per project each year.

As many as 20 centres will receive funding through the program each year. Applications must be submitted by the May 1 spring deadline or the Nov. 1 fall deadline.
