FGWRC to hold coping, clothing events

A local support centre for women will hold an upcoming positive coping group and an open clothing event.

Fort Garry Women’s Resource Centre will host the six-week long afternoon group for women, which will begin this month, at 1150A Waverley St.

The sessions are designed to help with the challenges of coping with stress, trauma and emotional pain and participants will explore healthy ways of coping with these issues by developing their own stress toolbox. They will accomplish this through increased self-awareness and mindfulness, and by finding ways to deal with feelings and identifying ways to increase self-esteem and resilience, as well as developing positive supports, organizers say.

For more information, or to register, call 204-477-1123. Space is limited and in-person intake with a facilitator is required.

FGWRC will also hold an open clothing room on Mon., March 11 from 1 to 2 p.m. at its outreach centre at 104-3100 Pembina Hwy., when women will be able to pick out five items for free.

This is women-only event and registration is not required. Childcare is available on request. While the event is free, non-perishable food items or monetary donations to the centre will be gratefully accepted.
