The Winnipeg Humane Society is gearing up for another Free Cat Friday Nov. 22.
All cats four-months-old and older will be free, and all under four-months-old will be $50. The usual cost for kittens is $179.
"The cat overpopulation crisis is ongoing and not enough cats are getting spayed or neutered," said Judy Dean, WHS adoptions manager, in a release. "This promotion will help these cats find loving homes."
Even with spay and neuter programs, the WHS said Winnipeg is still facing a overpopulation of stray cats. As the weather gets colder, more and more people are bringing them in.
"We’re helping these cats find homes so they don’t have to brave the elements this winter," Dean said.
Apart from the special pricing, the adoption process will be the same. Adopters need to bring identification showing their current address and can expect the process to take over 40 minutes, the release stated.
