Free bowling for kids offered at local alleys

  • Print

Local bowling centres are once again participating in the Kids Bowl Free program this summer.

Bowlers aged 15 and under are eligible to receive two games free of charge every day during the summer, with the shoe rental cost extra.

Parents can register their children and get full details at www.kidsbowlfree.com

Centres in Winnipeg participating in the promotion are: Academy Lanes (394 Academy Rd.), Academy Lanes West (479 Westwood Dr.), Chateau Lanes (1145 Nairn Ave.), Dakota Lanes (1085 St. Mary’s Rd.), Billy Mosienko Lanes (1136 Main St.), and Roxy Bowling Lanes (385 Henderson Hwy.).

Each centre sets its own dates and times for the promotion. In northeast Winnipeg, Chateau Lanes is offering the promotion from June 18 to Aug. 29, while Roxy kicked off its campaign May 1 and is also running it until Aug. 29.

In an email, Chateau Lanes owner Melody Savage noted parents may have concerns about letting their child try 10-pin bowling, but it is an accessible activity for kids of all ages.

"The balls look big but are available in various weights, starting at four pounds so even the young ones can participate,"

Savage noted. "The centre will provide bumper bowling, mom-approved music and glow lights during the Kids Bowl Free Program hours."
