Kits for Kids prepare for school

  • Print

Pembina Trails School Division is providing a jumpstart for new international students with Kits for Kids.
The blue bags are filled with pencils, pens, paper, a binder, glue, and all the other basic school supplies any new student will need.
Mishelle Russo and Ashleigh Deeley spearheaded the project with the help of the Pembina Trails Teachers Association (PTTA).
Funded by the PTTA and the MTS fund, Russo and Deeley put together 60 kits for students entering early, middle, and senior levels of school. Over a third of the kits have been given out since early April.
"Just to let them know that we care. Just some supplies so they can start their year on a positive note," said Russo. "We assembled them together and it seems like they are flying off the shelves."
