Lifestyle pass a way to meet your New Year’s resolution
If your New Year’s resolution is to get in shape, Sam Manchulenko might have just the right solution for you.
Six years ago, Manchulenko created the Lifestyle Pass, a passport to an array of Winnipeg fitness and yoga studios, specialty services and retail outlets. The pass provides more than $2,000 in savings at local health and wellness businesses.
In its first few years, the pass included offers from approximately 20 businesses. It has grown to include more than 50 businesses this year.
Manchulenko, a Crescentwood resident, said she created the pass as a "treasure map" to lead Winnipeggers to businesses that make them feel good.
"We have so many of them (in Winnipeg) and I wanted to create a tool that highlighted those businesses and made it more fun for people to go and experience them," she said.
Manchulenko said she’s always looking for new and healthy things to try, and the Lifestyle Pass is a way for her to find new businesses that pop up in Winnipeg and create more of a community.
She noted the pass includes something for everyone, and is a great starting point for individuals who don’t know where to start in terms of getting more physically active.
"You can get a pass and start trying the places inside and see what works for you," Manchulenko said.
"It gives you a chance to try different types of yoga, cardio dance classes, boot camps, and more. Not everyone is going to resonate with yoga, and not everyone is going to resonate with boot camps. Hopefully it gives (everyone) a chance to find the (places) that work for (them)."
Some of the businesses included in the pass are Ten Spa, Moksha Yoga Winnipeg, Booster Juice, Whole Fitness, Fort Whyte Alive and Balance Chiropractic. These businesses offer buy-one, get-one coupons, free trial classes, and other savings.
The pass sells for $40, and can be purchased online at McNally Robinson Booksellers or at many of the participating businesses.
People who purchase the pass will also receive a monthly newsletter with recipes and tips for a healthy lifestyle.
"Being healthy should be a joyful process, not torturous," Manchulenko said.
"There’s a way to live more actively that will fit for everyone. Going into 2013 lots of New Year’s resolutions are about wellness, and (the pass) is a great way to connect people to the positive spirit we have in our community."
