The provincial government is now accepting proposals for a new mentorship program announced late last month.
On Nov. 29, Premier Greg Selinger announced the creation of the After School Leaders program, which the province is partnering on with the Winnipeg Jets True North Foundation.
The new program will provide mentorships and practical work experience to children living in high-needs communities.
The program was created with feedback from crime consultations conducted earlier this year, and will begin in January with students from Argyle, Children of the Earth, St. John’s, Elmwood and Churchill high schools.
The same day, Selinger announced the creation of the province’s After School Network, a network of organizations in Manitoba which offer after-school and summer programming.
The province is currently accepting proposals for the After School Leader program, with a deadline of Jan. 2, 2013. Interested organizations can obtain more information by visiting www.merx.com.
