Social agency changes name, freshens look

  • Print

A local family-based non-profit agency is rebranding itself after 77 years of operation.
On Wed., April 24, The Family Centre of Winnipeg announced it was changing its name to Family Dynamics after two years of consulting its stakeholders.
"We are changing our name but not who we are," said Holly Puckall, executive director, said in a release.
"As our programs and services have continued to evolve, adapt and respond to changing needs, we needed a fresh new look to reflect who we are today."
Founded in 1936, Family Dynamics operates six family resource centres in Transcona, Fort Rouge, Charleswood, St. Vital and Tuxedo.
It also provides a number of programs ranging from personal and family counselling to parent coaching, as well as offering family support services for refugees.
More than 6,000 Winnipeg families used its services in 2012, according to the organization.
The organization is headquartered in Portage Place Shopping Centre downtown. Its major funders include the United Way Winnipeg, along with the provincial and federal governments.
