École St. Avila’s most avid readers were treated to a spaghetti lunch and cake for successfully contributing to the Manitoba Young Readers’ Choice Awards (MYRCA).
The students, in Grades 5 and 6, were given 18 novels which were all up for the MYRCA in October. The students were asked to read five, though others read most of them, and they then voted for their favourite.
It was a tight race, but Guilty by Norah McGlintock won the tallied votes. St. Avila’s vote will now be tallied with other participating schools to choose a provincial winner.
