A local wine store had its front window smashed and numerous bottles of wine stolen after a suspect broke into the business, Winnipeg Police say.
An employee at the Kenaston Wine Market (1855A Grant Avenue) who spoke to The Sou’wester confirmed the store had its front windows broken and wine stolen March 9.
Officers responded to the business shortly after 11 p.m. to see a man fleeing the area with two bags containing numerous bottles of wine. During a brief pursuit the wine was dropped, but was later recovered by police. The robber was arrested on Centennial Street.
Neil David Vanengel, 37, was arrested and has been charged with break enter and commit, possess break-in instruments, and failing to comply with a probation order for his alleged involvement. He was detained in custody.
