Swim Manitoba fundraising with gourmet meal

  • Print

Swim Manitoba is hoping to increase its pool of resources for local swimmers.

The organization is holding its second-annual HOPS CUISINE event on Nov. 7 at the Winnipeg Winter Club (200 River Ave.) at 6:30 p.m.

At the event, guests can sample fine beers before enjoying a four-course gourmet meal complete with beer pairings from Chef Craig of Urban Prairie Cuisine.

Swim Manitoba executive director Darin Muma said in a release that swimmers are incurring more and more expense, and local swimmers need support, especially with the Summer Olympics on tap in 2016.

"With all of these costs quickly on the rise and factoring in a higher rate of inflation individual sports, like swimming, need take action to help their members," Muma said. "Our Board of Directors wants to be proactive in raising funds for programming. They want to ensure that programming is not affected due to less money coming from more traditional sources."
