Winter may be coming — but there’s bowling
As the days grow shorter and autumn leaves speckle the green grass with their yellows, oranges, browns and reds, we Winnipeggers sense the approaching chill of the upcoming winter.
The outdoor comfort of T-shirts and flip-flops, barbecues and bonfires reaches its end and we ask ourselves how we plan on keeping our backsides from making deep grooves into the living room sofa.
Walking home down Osborne St. from 7-Eleven, frozen Slurpee in hand, (all seasons of the year, I might add), looking up just after I pass the corner of Baltimore Rd., I saw the writing on the wall: PARK ALLEYS.
Located at 730 Osborne St., between Baltimore and Ashland Ave., it’s a short walk for those living in the Riverview/Lord Roberts areas.
Bowling. It’s a simple game that everyone can enjoy regardless of ability or age; it’s something that gets you out of the house and socializing with friends and family.
"Like the good old days, when the world made sense," as Shrek would say. Bowling is pure, innocent fun. Add a variety of cool music beats, black lights and glowing neon surroundings, and it’s game on. For an inexpensive price you can work your spin shots or the patented backwards, between-the-legs granny shots down the hardwood.
Described as "Winnipeg’s classic five-pin bowling centre," Park Alleys offers cosmic glow-bowling, regular league bowling, bingo-bowling and children’s birthday parties.
To reserve your open bowling, parties or simply for more info, give them a call at 204-475-0585 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. You can also check them out on the web at parkbowlingcentre.com
So fight those cold-weather blues, pull yourself off the couch and stroll into Park Alleys for some good, old-fashioned fun for the whole family.
