Children and Youth Opportunities Minister and Point Douglas MLA Kevin Chief was joined by more than 300 children, youth and seniors in Memorial Park on Aug. 23 to announce a review of Manitoba’s recreation policy. "We see an increasing role for recreation in building relationships and healthy communities," Chief said in a release. "And as the face of our communities is changing, so too is the way Manitobans like to spend their leisure time. We need to stay current and responsive to emerging trends, whether that’s traditional play programs, or a game of cricket or ultimate frisbee."
According to the release, "key partners" such as local governments, school divisions and sports and rec groups will be consulted as the policy is redeveloped.
