Do you have a spruce tree that would be fit for city hall this Christmas?
Officials from the city’s public works department are reaching out to Winnipeg homeowners with large spruce trees who might be interested in donating their tree for city hall’s annual Christmas tree display.
To date, the city has received information about a number of potential Christmas tree candidates for this year, but none have met the criteria so far, officials say.
To be considered for city hall, the spruce tree must be located in the front yard of your property with direct access to the tree, be 12 to 15 metres tall and be fully symmetrical with a single trunk. It cannot have brown needles.
Tree donors are advised that they will not receive compensation for the tree, but crews will remove the tree at no cost to the homeowner and will also clean up debris and remove the stump to approximately two inches below ground level.
To submit your tree for consideration, call 311 or email email@example.com.
