City looking for chefs with vision
The city of Winnipeg is looking for a restauranteur with a vision to pitch them on how to go about breathing new life into a Kildonan Park eatery.
The Chief Peguis Pavilion, which has been under renovation, is expected to be the site of a new eatery for both parkgoers and the community in general, Coun. Devi Sharma (Old Kildonan) told The Times.
The city sent out an expression of interest in February, inviting restauranteurs to take a look at the space and pitch them a concept.
Sharma said the city has an idea of what it would like to see, but that beyond one simple idea, it’s open to suggestion.
"We’re trying to have a café style place in the front, and then more fine dining in the back," Sharma said.
The arrival of a new restaurant to the space could be a boon to the community, she added.
"What’s so important about having a restaurant operate in there, is that it’s an amentity to people, to get some longevity in there," Sharma said.
"People are expecting something good."
