Summer will be one of business and community for the North End Family Centre.
On Thurs., July 11, the centre will hold its annual general meeting at the Calvary Temple to review its 2012 activities and lay out its goals for 2013 and beyond, the centre said in its email newsletter.
The AGM will run from 5 to 6:30 p.m. and drinks will be provided.
The centre will followup with a Danny’s whole hog barbecue open to the community on July 20 at Champlain School. The barbecue, an annual event, will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the school’s yard, located at 275 Church Ave.
Meanwhile, the centre is still debating its option for its Movie in the Park event, slated for Sat., Aug. 24.
The centre will be showing a family-friendly film on a 25-foot screen at dusk in the north soccer field at Kildonan Park. The centre will be selling concessions to support its operations.
The centre, located at 1322 Main St., offers computer training workshops, a clothing exchange and laundry service, along with other free programs. It is supported largely through donations.
More than 500 visitors walk through the centre each day.
