Tickets are selling fast for a fifth annual fundraiser for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation and its CIBC Run for the Cure.
This year’s Evening in Honour of Aunt Leslie will take place Fri., Aug. 23 at the Marigold Restaurant on Inkster Boulevard at 6 p.m.
Organizer George Sanderson says there are little more than 150 tickets left for the event, which has raised more than $10,600 for cancer supports and research since it started in 2009.
"If I can hit $5,000 again this year, it will be a bonus," Sanderson said.
The Luxton-area resident was inspired to create the event after his aunt, Leslie Castling, was diagnosed with breast cancer in December 2007. Doctors gave Castling two years to live, but she beat those predictions when she died in February 2011.
The all-you-can-eat Chinese buffet includes a new show from renowned Elvis Presley tribute performer Daylin James, who will slide into tunes at 8 p.m.
