Members sought for health councils

  • Print

The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority is looking for community members to sit on several of its Community Health Advisory Councils in north Winnipeg.

The organization, which operates hospitals and other health facilities in Winnipeg, is looking for people to sit on its downtown and Point Douglas council, along with its Seven Oaks and Inkster council.

The groups meet six times between September and May to address issues in the health system.
Members will serve three-year terms and do not have to work or be an expert in the health field. Members are expected to share their experiences with and ideas about the system.

In the past, councils have created reports on subjects such as immigrant and refugee health, hospital patient flow, stigmas surrounding mental health, and public trust in the health system.

According to the WRHA, dinner is provided, babysitting is paid for, and transportation can be arranged.

Applications are due Fri., April 26, and can be found online at http://www.wrha.mb.ca/about/chac/index.php
