Neechi Commons welcoming customers one piece at a time

A new North End business focusing on local and regional goods has been serving happy customers for a number of weeks now, but their presence in the community is about to be made official.

Neechi Commons, located at 865 Main St., will hold its grand opening on Tues., March 19. The business, which includes a grocery store, restaurant, art shop and bakery, has been undergoing a phased opening in recent weeks, and has been highly active on social media, tempting prospective customers with photos of freshly-baked bannock and other specialties it is offering.

So far, the grocery, bakery, catering and produce departments are open, with more sections "to be added daily" according to a release issued by Neechi Foods Co-op Ltd.

In addition, upper-level office spaces are ready to be rented out.

The ribbon will be cut at 9 a.m. Store hours currently are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
