Oral surgery centre adds to Riverbend community
The Oral Surgery Group of Winnipeg recently opened its doors in the Riverbend/Rivergrove community.
Located at 100-2405 Main St., the facility boasts tall ceilings, plush blankets, calming artwork and friendly surgeons. It’s modern and doesn’t have a medical feel, despite the services that it offers. Parts of the centre resemble a spa more than a surgical clinic.
The centre specializes in various oral surgery needs and is equipped with laboratories, a CT scanner and 3D imaging. All of the surgeons at Oral Surgery Group of Winnipeg have privileges at Seven Oaks Hospital.
There has been incredible residential growth north of the Chief Peguis Trail, so the centre is a much needed addition to the north part of the city, as there is no facility of its kind outside downtown and the south end. The centre will also serve communities north of Winnipeg.
Office manager Lumena Cabral said the facility has added value to the community and will create jobs. It’s the first of many buildings to be erected on the land surrounding it.
Dr. Antonio Canosa, who is both a partner in the surgery centre and a partner in the development group, has been working very closely with city planners to create an esthetically appealing mix of professional offices and restaurants.
"We want to distinguish ourselves as strong members of the community, he said.
Canosa hopes to add a neighbourhood coffee house, a national pizza chain, and a yogurt and ice cream shop to the development.
He also hopes to attract professional services required by the community, such as chiropractors.
"The buildings will have a professional flavour to them and will not look like a standard strip mall," he said.
