Trivia is the only thing trivial about this pursuit.
The Alzheimer Society of Manitoba is hosting the Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries Trivia Challenge on Oct. 24 in the McPhillips Station Casino concert bowl.
Teams of 10 will compete in 10 rounds of trivia, while at the same time raising awareness of mental health and care and, perhaps, lessening their chances of developing the disease.
"Trivia Challenge highlights the importance of your brain health," Alzheimer Society CEO Wendy Schettler says in a press release.
"Challenging your brain and socializing help reduce the risk of Alzheimer’s disease or another dementia."
Last year, over 200 people participated in the Trivia Challenge, raising over $14,500 for programs and services for people affected by Alzheimer’s disease and dementia.
According to the Alzheimer Society, over 20,000 Manitobans deal with some sort of dementia.
The Trivia Challenge starts at 6:30 p.m. and costs $30 per person.
