The Archdiocese of Winnipeg is taking its annual Way of the Cross parade into the North End this coming Good Friday.
The parade will set out from St. John Cantius Parish at 846 Burrows Avenue at 9:30 a.m. on March 29. The route will take its participants east to Arlington Street, where they’ll go north a block before turning west on Alfred Avenue. The parade will go north once again on Sinclair Street for several blocks, before turning west onto Boyd.
The parade then turns south onto Artillery Street, before going west on Aberdeen Avenue, south on Battery and east on Alfred. The parade will take Artillery back to Burrows Avenue, at which point it will return to the parish. The parade is expected to be finished by about 11 a.m.
Parking is limited, so those bringing a vehicle are encouraged to arrive early on Good Friday morning, as organizers are expecting about 1,000 people to attend. A police escort will accompany the parade on its route. Light refreshments will be provided afterwards.
