Hey there, time traveller!

I know you have heard me mention this more than once, but we have a lot of caring people in Burrows. They help make this neighbourhood the great community that it is.
Since we have so many local leaders and community members, it would be impossible to highlight them all!
We recently held a community lunch in the area so that some folks would have an opportunity to share information and speak with our premier, ministers and caucus members. As the MLA for Burrows, I co-hosted this event with the MLA for The Maples, Mohinder Saran.
Thank you to all who come out and joined us. It is your energy, ideas and creative solutions that make it possible for us to meet the needs of our communities.
This is also I Love to Read Month and I have a calendar full of appointments to read and bring books to our schools. It is a favourite part of my job. I believe that education is the great equalizer, and that investing in schools is key to our future. I am grateful to the many dedicated teachers, education assistants, principals, superintendents, and volunteers who make our schools safe, creative, interesting places for our kids.
This is why investing in schools is so important. As I’m sure many families can agree, kids who are happy and stimulated in school are less likely to get caught in cycles of poverty and crime.
I was also able to attend O.V. Jewitt School’s excellent musical, Let the Games Begin. This was the 17th production directed by the creative, amazing Lori Wiebe. A big thank you to Lori, and to all those who pitched in to make this a wonderful production.
On Feb. 9 I attended an event at Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral of Saint Mary the Protectress regarding the mass protests that erupted in Ukraine after President Yanukovych chose to end a pact with the European Union.
I’m sure the whole community of Burrows would want their Ukrainian brothers and sisters to know that they stand with them during this difficult time.

I am usually out in the community when I am not in the Legislature but my assistants Josh and Kelly are always happy to help.
