Are you a senior living in the Seven Oaks area? Do you know all the services that are available to make your life easier, safer and more pleasant?
You’ve received piles of information about health services but did you know that you can hire Marymound students to do your snow shovelling and yard work? Talk of a win-win situation!
Curious? Elaine Stern and Susan Fletcher want to make sure you find out all about these services, and more. Elaine is the recreation director at Gwen Secter Creative Living Centre and Susan is the resource co-ordinator at Seven Oaks Seniors’ Links.
The two organizations are joining forces yet again this year to inform seniors about many services available in this area.
They are holding the 2014 All About Service Expo at the Gwen Secter Creative Living Centre, 1588 Main St., on Fri., June 20, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. Refreshments will be served in the morning.
There will be tables with representatives from Service Canada, Home Instead, Seven Oaks Seniors’ Links, Gwen Secter fitness and other services, Victoria Lifeline, Meals on Wheels, Transportation Option Network for Seniors (TONS), Seniors Moving Company, Disability Tax Credit Service and Marymound School yard service.
The All About Service Expo will be offering two workshops, on home care and fraud prevention. Following a survey last year that suggested people would like to attend both workshops, they will be presented sequentially, rather than at the same time. Your service providers are listening!
Susan and Elaine emphasise that this event is of interest to everyone involved in the life of a well-seasoned adult in the Seven Oaks area. Caregivers should come by and pick up the information that can help make everyone’s life better.
For any questions, you can contact Elaine at Gwen Secter by calling 204-339-1701.
