Induction of new officers of the Filipino-Canadian Technical Professionals Association of Manitoba (FCTPAM) highlighted the 22nd anniversary celebration of the association, held on Saturday, June 8 at Canad Inns Destination Centre Garden City.
A short program was emceed by Mar Mance, FCTPAM corporate auditor and Rhia Alcantara, Winnipeg news correspondent for The Filipino Channel Canada.
Outgoing FCTPAM president Norman Padilla welcomed participants and inspirational message was delivered by Edwin Sapnu, professional engineer and president of Filipino Manitoba Chapter of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of the Province of Manitoba.
Atty Leo Aniceto, FCTPAM adviser, presented new officers, who were led by Chris Santos, incoming president. All the officers were inducted by Kevin Lamoureux, MP for Winnipeg North.
The members of the FCTPAM executive are Chris Santos; Jaime de la Cruz, vice president; Shariene Quipit, corporate secretary; Arlyn Recones, corporate treasurer and Mario Mance, corporate auditor.
Directors are Norman Padilla, Allen Samson, Anselmo Agustin, Malissa Manarin, Manette Amparo, Marvin Sarmiento and Edward Kapaw-an. The advisory board is made up of Fidel Araneta, Atty Leo Aniceto, Alex Majul and Astropel Miguel.
"For the past 22 years, the association has provided technical and professional references and guidance to its members," Santos said.
The association was founded in 1992 by four individuals who sought recognition of the credentials and experiences of internationally educated professionals in all related fields of engineering, architecture and information technology. The association has actively participated in events such as Folklorama, the Philippine Heritage Council of Manitoba and others.
Other projects undertaken include AutoCAD scholarship program, coordination with Fairness Commission and other government agencies.
"FCTPAM has proven itself the test of time. It has been 22 years and the organization is still alive, vibrant and strong and I am proud to be a part of it," said FCTPAM adviser Atty Leo Aniceto.
