Despite economic uncertainties, the province is maintaining the services that matter most to you and your family.
One thing we know is fundamental to the future of our neighbourhoods is the success of our youth, and recreational opportunities are one of the best ways of helping our kids find healthy outlets for their energy and enthusiasm.
That’s why I am so excited about projects like the Wayfinder program, which the province funds in partnership with the Winnipeg Foundation and the Seven Oaks School Division. Last week, I attended the opening of its newly expanded facility at 950 Jefferson Avenue.
This after-school program was originally focused on helping kids with their homework. While this continues to be the main focus, the program also introduces youth to positive activities such as cooking, chess, bike repair, dancing and many other life skills.
Another important feature for youth of all ages in our neighbourhood is the North Centennial Recreation and Leisure Facility, which the province funded along with other levels of government. This centre includes a pool, a weight training facility, gymnasium and is affordable and accessible to all. What a great opportunity for families to get in shape and enjoy some healthy recreation, especially during our long cold winters! Check it out at 90 Sinclair Street.
I encourage everyone to take advantage of this important community centre and once again encourage you all to contact me and let me know what matters most to you and your family.
